DEVELOPING
THE SPEEDBLOCK
EXPERIENCE.

BUILT ON 40 YEARS OF

CONCRETE EXPERIENCE.

In 1979, Erik Garfinkel started Palo Alto Concrete & Construction. By working closely with customers to understand their needs, the company grew to play a role in building thousands of concrete structures.

From the outset, Erik continually looked for smarter and more efficient ways to serve his customers. In 1997, he developed a new hollow block wall (CMU) system that provided exceptional strength and ease of installation. The product caught on rapidly in Nevada and California, where more than 800,000 square feet were used in the construction of retail buildings, casinos, commercial buildings, industrial warehouses, sound walls, school gymnasiums and churches.

THE LAUNCH OF
SPEEDBLOCK

Erik partnered with John MacMillan nearly ten years ago, with their investing millions into R&D getting the product ready to bring to market.

Using a new patented automated manufacturing process, SpeedBlock is able to manufacture their hollow concrete masonry units in an efficient way.

This new process enables builders to have their project walls processed to their specifications at a SpeedBlock manufacturing facility — adding to the substantial time and labor savings of the SpeedBlock system. By eliminating on-site casting and cutting, or hand building masonry blocks walls, labor hours can be reduced by up to 80%, and cleanup at the end of the project virtually eliminated.

For more than four decades, the leaders of SpeedBlock have worked closely with corporate site managers, owners, builders and contractors.

Over the years, we’ve dedicated ourselves to building a company based on a firm understanding of what matters most to them.

This customer-centric approach is at the heart of everything we do. It’s a value that each team members brings to life every day, in a variety of ways: Maintaining high standards of integrity. Keeping every promise we make. Responding to our customers with the sense of urgency they deserve. And continually finding better, smarter ways to help you complete your projects on time, on budget, and to specification.
